AUTHORED & PASSED THE BPA FREE KIDS ACT

Kelda stood up to the chemical lobby and authored the BPA Free Kids Act, to stop the neurotoxin bisphenol A, a toxic chemical with developmental effects on children, from being put in baby bottles.  

EXPANDED HEALTHCARE COVERAGE

As Vice Chair of the Committee on Health and Healthcare Reform, Kelda ensured 80,000 previously uninsured Wisconsinites received health care coverage. Kelda worked across the aisle to modernize nursing regulations and expand healthcare access for rural and urban communities alike.

FUNDING FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS

Kelda passed AB940, providing funding to crisis centers, and domestic violence survivor services in Wisconsin-- protecting victims and their families.

COMPASSIONATE CARE FOR RAPE VICTIMS ACT

As Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin for four years, Kelda helped Wisconsin pass its first pro-choice law in three decades: the Compassionate Care for Rape Victims Act.

PASSED LANDMARK CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM

While still in law school, Kelda helped pass Act 60, which prevented wrongful convictions in Wisconsin. In the legislature, Kelda passed SB 120, restricting police departments from extreme forms of use of force, and prohibiting certain procedures from occurring, with penalties for those who violate-- and passed SB 122, ensuring transparency in use of force policies.

PROTECTED LABOR UNIONS & WORKERS

Kelda passed SB 523, addressing unfair labor practices in violation of collective bargaining rights. Protecting workers, defending unions, and supporting Wisconsin workers.

SUPPORTED BREASTFEEDING MOTHERS

Kelda passed AB 57, permitting Wisconsin mothers to breastfeed in public, and encouraging the implementation of increased access to private spaces for nursing mothers.

PROHIBITED HOUSING DISCRIMINATION

Kelda passed SB 204, banning the discrimination of housing for individuals who have been the victims of domestic violence.
